Day Three: Move

20 Minute Yoga Routine

with Charlie Abra

Yoga is a

holistic practice...

that encompasses physical postures, breathwork, and mindfulness.

Embrace the journey, stay present in the moment, and enjoy the process of exploring and connecting with your body, mind, and spirit through yoga.

Here are some tips if you are

new to yoga:

Wear comfortable clothing:

Choose flexible and breathable attire that allows you to move freely. Opt for clothing that doesn't restrict your movement or distract you during the practice.

Warm up before starting:

Prior to your yoga session, spend a few minutes warming up your body. Gentle stretching or light cardio exercises can help loosen up your muscles and prepare them for the yoga poses.

Listen to your body:

Pay attention to your body's limitations and honor what feels comfortable for you. Avoid pushing yourself too hard or forcing your body into poses that feel painful or unsafe. Yoga is about finding your own edge and respecting your body's boundaries.

Focus on your breath:

Throughout the practice, maintain awareness of your breath. Breathe deeply and steadily, allowing the breath to guide your movements. This helps create a sense of calm and presence.

Modify the poses as needed:

Don't hesitate to modify the poses to suit your body's needs. Use props like blocks, blankets, or straps to assist you in achieving proper alignment and making the poses more accessible.

Take breaks when necessary:

If you feel fatigued or overwhelmed during your practice, it's okay to take breaks. Listen to your body and rest whenever needed. You can always resume the practice when you feel ready.

Be patient and consistent:

Like any new endeavor, progress in yoga takes time and patience. Don't get discouraged if you can't perform certain poses right away. Stay consistent with your practice, and you'll gradually witness improvements in strength, flexibility, and overall well-being.

Invest in a yoga mat:

Purchase a comfortable and non-slip yoga mat to provide cushioning and stability during your practice. This will help you maintain balance and prevent slipping.

Seek guidance if needed:

If you're unsure about proper alignment or have specific concerns or limitations, consider taking a few private sessions with a qualified yoga instructor. They can provide personalized guidance and help tailor the practice to your individual needs.
