Connecting to your inner child

Nov 11, 2021

As I sit here writing this, my sweet little girl is playing with water, crystals and dirt. I love watching her play and it makes me realise how as adults, we become so disconnected from our playful, curious, innocent inner child.

What did you do as a kid that made the hours pass by like minutes? I remember dancing with Mum in the loungeroom to loud music, which then turned to dance classes when I was five up until I was a teenager. I loved it!

Finding yoga was a lot like dance. I guess I just love moving my body to music, connecting to my breath and the energy within that dance and movement taps me into.

Children are our best teachers. If you are finding it hard to connect to your inner child lately, I have written a few things below you can start incorporating into your daily routine.

  1. Dance to music like no one is watching.
  2. Jump on a trampoline (If your bladder allows it ;)
  3. Sing
  4. Paint a picture
  5. Dance in the rain.
  6. Play with an animal.
  7. Scream into a pillow when it all gets too much (It helps a lot ;)

"By staying open-minded and listening to the needs and desires of your inner child, you open yourself up to the possibilities of anything!"

Pain is part of the process of growth. Every experience shapes us, even the difficult ones. Each part of the journey has a purpose, and when we take responsibility for our healing, we rise stronger and more aligned.
