Creating stillness amongst the chaos
Apr 30, 2021
Sitting down to meditate used to be one of those things that I never made time for. I’d come up with a bunch of reasons why I couldn’t do it like, “I didn’t have enough time, or, “there was better things to be doing like going for a run or fitting in a high intensity training session.”
Sometimes, (well, ALL the time), the universe hands us exactly what we need in each and every moment for us to grow and evolve. You see, my belief is, that we’ve evolved as human beings physically, but we are now living through a time where we need to be evolving internally. What does this mean? It means that we need to be focused on our inner world, (mental, emotional and spiritual).
Lately, I haven’t been able to do my normal physical practice due to an injured knee and lower back. I have been forced to slow down, to go within, to be still, to meditate, breathe and listen to what my soul is trying to communicate with me.
Instead of my usual high intensity workout, or my 10km run, (or both), I have been practising a ten-minute breathing exercise followed by some restorative yoga, chi gong, or sitting up next to the fire journaling with a cuppa while Arlo watches cartoons.
Has this been easy? HELL NO! I have felt ALL the emotions whilst being injured from frustration to anger to sadness to finally, surrender. Why is it that we resist what our bodies are trying to communicate to us? We've grown up in a culture where it's go, go, go, and we feel guilty when we're not "doing." We forget that we're human "Beings."
Like nature, we also have seasons. There's a time for action, a time for non action, a time for letting go, and a time for regeneration. Tuning into your natural rhythm daily is vitally important for your overall health. We need to make the time each day to connect to that inner stillness that resides within us, to our spirit.
There’s ALWAYS a gift in the pain whether it's physical or emotional. We just have to have the strength, courage and patience to look within to find it. What’s the lesson I have learnt? I think I’m still learning it, but I can say that my body is liking the extra sleep and rest at the moment, and I have finally got the time and space to write my very first blog post on my new website. So, maybe that's it?
Take care, have an amazing day and remember to slow down, breathe, and connect to the inner stillness within!
Peace, Love & Happiness😊
