Why you need yoga in your life.

Yoga can literally change your life!
It changed mine over ten years ago, and continues to do so even today. And no, you don't need to be flexible to start, nor do you need to wear lulu lemon to do a class. All you need is some comfy clothes, and the discipline and willingness to turn your phone off for a bit, go within, and face yourself.
Going within can be scary! Being aware of the thoughts that are coming and going, the emotions you may be experiencing, or even the sensations coming from your physical body can all be a bit much. But, with the gentle guidance of a yoga teacher, you will be able to clear your energy and keep returning back to your true nature each time you roll out your mat.
Let me give you a brief rundown of what yoga is....
Yoga is a practice that connects the body, breath, and mind. It uses physical postures, (asanas) breathing exercises, (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana) to improve overall health. Yoga was developed as a spiritual practice thousands of years ago. Today, most people who do yoga, do it for exercise or to reduce stress.
Essentially, yoga is a process of self-realisation and discovering the true nature of things. You can practice yoga in a group, or you can choose to take the journey alone, but everyone will have their own unique level of understanding as they progress along the path of yoga.
Cool hey!
Also, we hold our whole life's experiences within our nervous system. Which means, if you have ever been in a fight, flight, or freeze response (sympathetic nervous system), your nervous system could still be holding onto that experience and energy.
Yoga can down-regulate the sympathetic nervous system and up-regulate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for rest, digestion, energy conservation and slowing the heart rate.
Life is always going to cause us to go between the two, why? Because shit happens and life will constantly ebb and flow. We can't always control what life throws at us, but we can control how we respond. We need to learn how to self soothe and self regulate in a healthy way. (not with booze and ciggies)
The more regulated and balanced we feel inside, the happier we feel and can share with others.
This is where.....drum roooooole pleeaaase..... YOGA CAN HELP!!!
You can simply practice a breathing technique to activate the relaxation response in the body, which changes your brain chemistry, spend a few minutes getting into some yoga poses, THEN, finish with a few minutes of meditation, you will have self-soothed, and on your way to feeling super chill.
Your welcome;)
