✨🌬️Finding Balance Through Breath-work: A Simple Tool for Everyday Calm ☺️

Mar 04, 2025

Life feels a bit like a rollercoaster these days, doesn’t it? The constant buzz of notifications on your phone, emails to get through, tight schedules, and endless to-do lists...... I dunno about you, but this can easily throw me out of balance. How do I know I am out of balance? For me, I get the shits real quick, usually at the people I love, (aka my beautiful Misso and my daughter), and I don't sleep well.

So, what do we do about it so we stop being dishevelled arseholes?.. We breathe. And yes, I know what you're thinking... "Charlie how the f*%$k is my breath going to calm be down and realign me to the essence of who I truly am? I need alcohol for this shit....

Paying attention to your breath, your thoughts, and your energy, and INTENTIONALLY  letting the feelings of love, peace, and happiness flood your mind, body and emotions triggers the relaxation response in the body. It may sound dumb, and you may feel like an idiot doing it at first, but this shit works I promise! BUT, there's a catch.... You must do it DAILY! Once a day at the minimum, two to three times a day for the best results. We are training our mind and body to think and feel in a different way so it takes time and practice.

Breath-work might sound like something reserved for yogis on mountaintops, but in reality, it’s a powerful, practical tool anyone can use to find a little more peace in the chaos. And guess what? You don’t even need to be an expert to feel the benefits.

What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is exactly what it sounds like: focused breathing techniques designed to help you tap into your body’s natural rhythms, calm your nervous system, and bring you back to the present moment. Whether you’re in the middle of a stressful workday, dealing with tough emotions, or just need to hit pause, taking a moment to breathe deeply can make all the difference.

The beauty of breathwork is that it doesn’t take much to get started—no special equipment, no need for a quiet room (although that helps), and no long, drawn-out sessions. It’s all about creating a few minutes of space to reset, refocus, and reconnect with your inner peace.

The Benefits: Why Bother?

So why should you give breathwork a try? Well, the benefits are pretty impressive:

Stress Reduction: Deep, intentional breathing helps signal to your brain that it’s time to calm down. This activates the parasympathetic nervous system (the one that says “chill out!”) and reduces the fight-or-flight response that can leave you feeling frazzled.

Improved Focus: Ever feel like your brain is a hundred tabs open at once? Focusing on your breath helps you centre your attention and be more present in the moment.

Better Sleep: A few minutes of breath-work before bed can help quiet your mind and prepare your body for restful sleep.

Emotional Balance: Breath-work helps regulate your emotions by giving you a moment to process what’s happening in your body, rather than reacting impulsively.

Physical Health: Deep breathing increases oxygen flow, helps lower blood pressure, and can even improve digestion. Who knew breathing could be so beneficial right?

Give the 'Just Breathe' practice a go everyday for a week and let me know how you go. Make It a Daily Habit.

The beauty of breath-work is that it can be done anytime, anywhere. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed in a meeting, stuck in traffic, losing your shit at your family, or just need a moment to clear your head, taking a few mindful breaths can bring you back to balance. (You can also partner your breath-work sesh with some exercise to really bring you back down to 0 if you're at 100)

Start small. Aim for just 5-10 minutes a day, and see how it makes you feel. Try a few rounds of breath-work as soon as you wake up before your morning coffee, or use it as a way to wind down before bed.

Over time, you’ll likely notice that you feel more at ease and able to handle whatever life throws at you with a little more grace and a little less psycho. 😂

Finding balance doesn’t have to be a complicated process. Breathwork is a simple, practical tool that’s always available to you. By taking a moment to breathe deeply and with intention, you can create more space for calm, clarity, and peace in your daily life. So, take a deep breath, let it out slowly, and remember—balance is just one ( or one hundred) breaths away 😉

Loads of Love, light and epic vibes,
