Moon in Sagittarius: June 26–29, 2026 — How to Work With This Waxing Fire Energy
Jun 27, 2026
There's a bit of restlessness that arrives before a full moon.
Not the anxious kind, the reaching kind. A pull toward something you can't quite name. You might notice it in your body first: a tightness in the chest, an urge to move or speak or be somewhere bigger than where you are.
If you've felt that this week, you're not imagining it.
What's Happening in the Sky
Last night (Thursday, 26 June 2026), the moon moved out of Scorpio and into Sagittarius and it's building towards fullness.
Right now, we are in a waxing gibbous phase, with the moon sitting at around 90–93% illumination. This is the gathering phase. The peak, the Strawberry Full Moon, arrives on Tuesday, 30 June at 9:57 AM AEST, as the moon moves into the tropical sign of Capricorn.
But for now, while she's still in Sagittarius, we have a window.
A window of fire. Of longing. Of the body asking to be let out of its careful, contracted holding.
(Note: Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac. The moon's actual astronomical constellation is also Sagittarius this week, a rare alignment worth noticing.)
What Sagittarius Energy Actually Feels Like in the Body
Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign. In astrology, it's associated with expansion, truth-seeking, vision, and the courage to aim beyond what feels safe.
But in the body, in the nervous system, this energy lands differently for people who are already stretched thin.
For some, it arrives as a surge of inspiration that burns out quickly. A flash of clarity followed by exhaustion, because your system doesn't have the capacity to sustain it.
For others, it's a low-level agitation. A sense that something needs to change, but no idea what or how. The arrow is drawn. But you don't know where to aim.
And for some, it's actually freeing. A loosening. A breath that goes a little deeper. A laugh that comes more easily.
None of these are wrong. Your nervous system will meet this energy from wherever it is right now.
The invitation isn't to perform the Sagittarius energy, to force yourself into bold, expansive action. The invitation is to notice what's alive in you, and meet it gently.
The Waxing Gibbous: What This Phase Is Asking Of Us
We're in the analysing, questioning, refining phase of the lunar cycle, the waxing gibbous. The new moon seed (planted around 15 June) has been growing. This is the moment of looking at what's emerging and asking: is this really what I want? Is this aligned?
It's not a time for new beginnings. It's a time for honest assessment.
The Sagittarius flavour of this phase says: tell yourself the truth. About what lights you up. About where you've been shrinking. About the direction you've quietly stopped believing in.
This isn't the week for more doing. It's a week for witnessing.
How to Work With This Energy (Somatic Practices)
Here's what I'd offer you for these days leading into the full moon:
1. The truth-telling breath
Sit somewhere you won't be interrupted. Place both hands on your chest.
Take a slow breath in through your nose, let the belly rise first, then the chest. Hold at the top for just a moment. Then a long, slow exhale through your mouth.
As you exhale, ask yourself: What am I not saying? What truth is my body holding that my mind hasn't caught up to yet?
Don't try to answer. Just breathe and listen.
2. Move like fire (gently)
Sagittarius energy wants to move. Not in a punishing, push-through-it way, in a I am alive and my body knows it way.
Five minutes. Put music on that you love. Let your body do what it does. Shake, sway, roll your shoulders, walk around the room. Nothing is too small. Nothing needs to look like anything.
Fire doesn't perform. It just burns.
3. Write the honest thing down
Before the full moon arrives, write, just for yourself, the one thing you've been reaching toward that you haven't let yourself say out loud.
Not a goal. Not a plan. Just a sentence.
I am ready for ___.
Or: The truth I keep circling is ___.
Let it sit. You don't have to do anything with it.
As the Full Moon Approaches
The Strawberry Full Moon arrives on 30 June at 9:57 AM AEST, perfecting in Capricorn (tropical) while astronomically glowing in the constellation Sagittarius.
That combination, Sagittarius's fire-vision and Capricorn's grounded, structural wisdom, is an invitation to get honest about what you actually want to build. Not in a hustle way. In a slow, tended, this-matters-to-me way.
We'll be working with this in Tathra this week in our live sessions, in our shared practice space. This is exactly the kind of energy I love to move through with people, rather than alone.
A Little Invitation for You
Inside the Tathra Membership, we move with the rhythms of the land, the body, and the sky, not as trend, but as a way of coming home to ourselves.
Each Sunday there’s a live session, designed to meet your nervous system where it is. Not push you. Not fix you. Simply create the conditions for your own wisdom to surface.
If you feel that Sagittarius pull, that reaching, that longing for something more honest and more alive, I'd love for you to come and breathe with us.
The body already knows the way. We're just learning to listen.
